MLA AGM voting results

Members of Meat & Livestock Australia have strongly supported their company at its annual general meeting in Longreach today, with only 10.39% of votes cast in favour of the resolution to wind up the company.
MLA chairman, Don Heatley said he was grateful for the continued support from MLA members over the past few years, and it was time for the industry to come together.
“I thank MLA members and the industry for the enormous support that they have shown the company. It is now time to work together as an industry and look to the future.” he said.
In other results, Michele Allan, Geoff Maynard and Rodney Watt were elected to the MLA Board.
The election results for Board Directors were:
• 82.65% vote cast in favour of the election of Michele Allan as a MLA Director
• 89.69% votes cast in favour of the election of Geoff Maynard as a MLA Director
• 85.35% votes cast in favour of the election of Rodney Watt as a MLA Director
MLA members voted to elect three new producer members to the MLA Selection committee:
• 91.17% percent of votes cast by cattle producer members were in favour of electing Ian McCamley to the MLA selection committee
• 92% votes cast by sheep producer members were in favour of electing Ben Hooper to the MLA selection committee
• 96.65% votes cast by MLA lot feeder members were in favour of electing Warren Barnett to the MLA selection committee.
MLA will now get on with the job of creating opportunities for cattle, sheep and goat producers through the delivery of marketing and R&D services,” Mr Heatley said.
