MLA Deputy Chair elected

12 August 2011

Northern NSW cattle producer Rob Anderson was elected as Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) Deputy Chair at the MLA Board meeting held in Brisbane yesterday.

Mr Anderson's appointment is in recognition of the need for additional support to assist the current MLA Chairman with his duties and activities, including attendance at producer and industry events on behalf of MLA.

"I'm looking forward to getting on the road and helping Don talk to producers about what MLA was created to do on their behalf," Mr Anderson said.

"As the industry's service company, MLA invests in R&D and marketing to help lift producers' profitability and sustainability. I am eager to reinforce this with producers across the country and hear their priorities in these areas first hand."

Earlier this year current MLA Chairman Don Heatley announced his intention to stand down as Chairman, and from the MLA Board, at the conclusion of this year's annual general meeting in Longreach, Queensland on 17 November.

A new Chair of the company will be elected by the MLA Board at a meeting held following the AGM.
