Under the new live export regulatory framework the responsibility for implementing the new supply chain assurance standards lies with the commercial operators - the exporters and importers.

MLA's role is to invest producer levies, where directed by Cattle Council of Australia, to support supply chain development through activities such as developing standard operating procedures to enable supply chains to meet audit requirements, and infrastructure improvements to enable the more rapid uptake of stunning.
