Livestock exporters
Here you'll find the information that is most relevant to you as a livestock exporter, including the latest market information, what’s going on in Australia’s domestic and export markets, R&D outcomes, new publications and more.
The Livestock Export Program invests Australian farmer and exporter levies into programs to improve the trade.
These programs include:
- Market access and trade development: improving Australia’s trade relationships with overseas customers and governments
- Industry capability: ensuring quality processes are maintained from the farm to overseas markets
- Livestock management and welfare: providing training, education and infrastructure upgrades in the markets we export to
- Research and development: improving animal welfare on farm, during transport and in overseas markets
For many years Australia has been a valuable food source for countries around the world. Many countries do not have the resources or geography to efficiently produce livestock to feed their people, and Australia is able to meet this overseas demand for live, chilled and boxed meat products. The livestock trade provides much needed protein for global communities, and supports the livelihood of thousands of Australian farming families and communities.
Australia’s livestock export industry is recognised as having the highest animal welfare standards for livestock export, and we are committed to maintaining our reputation as the best in the world.
