Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) is a producer-owned company, working in partnership with industry and government to achieve a profitable and sustainable red meat and livestock industry. MLA has the unique responsibility of providing marketing and research services to its 43,500 livestock producer members and the broader red meat industry to help them meet community and consumer expectations.

MLA membership is free to levy-paying producers of cattle, sheep, lambs or goats. Find out about all the great benefits of membership, and how to register as a member of MLA.
How we are funded
MLA is primarily funded by transaction levies paid on livestock sales by producers.
The Federal Government also contributes a dollar for each dollar we spend in R&D. This is supplemented by cooperative contributions from individual processors, wholesalers, foodservice operators and retailers. Processors and live animal exporters pay levies under contract to MLA.

Corporate documents
Each year, MLA develops an annual operating plan setting out our programs and objectives for the year ahead (July to June). A progress report for the first half of the year is published in March each year, and an annual report is published in October.
