Glen Feist
Regional Manager- Korea

 

Glen spent the first 20 years of his career in the supermarket sector, moving through the ranks to become a proprietor of two successful supermarkets. Glen saw the opportunity to market and educate Asians in all aspects of Australian meat. He moved to Singapore 1987 and set up a consultancy firm called “Prime Advice”.  He was quickly picked up as a consultant to the then Australian Meat and Live-stock Corporation (AMLC). This role saw Glen working throughout Asia educating and marketing Australian meat to all end users, including importers, wholesalers, hotels and retailers to consumers.

 

In 1992 he was offered a position as Manager, Meat Manufacturing and Merchandising for Wellcome Supermarkets in Hong Kong. He subsequently rose to the position of Director Fresh Food Supply Chain. In January 2003 Glen accepted a position with Meat and Livestock Australia as Regional Manager – Korea.  In this role he is responsible for building demand for Australian beef, sheep and goat meat in Korea.


 

Samantha Jamison

Regional Manager - Japan

 

Based in Tokyo, Samantha has managed the implementation of MLA's marketing programs for Aussie Beef and Lamb in Japan since 2001. Samantha has worked in the Australian meat industry since 1991 from market analysis to managing major market development and marketing programs in both Japan and Singapore.

 

Samantha's key achievements include the development of a successful brand and marketing campaign for Australian pork in Singapore, and most recently, the Aussie Beef market recovery campaign in Japan following the outbreak of BSE in Japan in 2001.

 

Samantha has a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) and Masters of Commerce (Marketing and Japanese Business Communication) from NSW University. After living and studying in Japan as a student in the late 1980s, Samantha is fluent in Japanese.


 

Ian Ross

 Regional Manager - Middle East

 

Ian Ross was appointed Regional Manager for the Middle East and Africa in September 2005. Based in the Kingdom of Bahrain, his main focus is to grow market awareness of the Australian red meat industry throughout the Middle East & Africa.

 

Ian brings a lifetime of meat experience to the region having spent the past 39 years working in the meat industry. For the past five years, he has worked closely with Australia’s sheep farmers to develop more efficient methods for the production and marketing of sheep and lambs. He was born into a meat industry family, left school to work in his family’s meat processing business and thoroughly enjoyed the work. He is a qualified retail butcher and holds a diploma in Meat Management.

 

 

Michelle Gorman

Regional Manager- North America

 

Michelle Gorman (nee Reich) was appointed MLA Regional Manager, North America, in April 2006. Returning to MLA after an absence of three years, where Michelle held the position of Director, Regulatory Relations at the American Farm Bureau Federation. Her role there managed biotechnology and international environmental issues. 

 

In this role Michelle lobbied the US Congress and Administration to ensure federal legislation and regulation allow US farmers to maximize the benefits of biotechnology and was the media spokesperson on these issues.

 

Michelle has a passion for the Australian meat and livestock industry and is well qualified to continue MLA's efforts to maintain the North American market for Australian beef and sheepmeat.

 

David Jones

Regional manager- Europe/Russia

 

Since July 2007, David's role at MLA has been improving market access into Europe and seeking opportunities for Australian meat into the Russian Federation. He has a Diploma in Advanced Management from the Charles Sturt University, Riverina and is a qualified ISO auditor.

 

After migrating from Wales In 1972 David has been heavily involved in the meat industry from butcher stores, to a meat inspector to the early beef classification systems introduced in Queensland and self regulation hygiene system of meat premises.

 

In 1987 David was offered a role at the AMLC as an Area Manager with AUS-MEAT. In 1993, David was the Senior Training Manager for the AUS-MEAT training/accreditation unit and carried out additional training for the Malaysian Government and AMLC in the Persian Gulf Region.

 

In 1995 David moved to Bahrain as the Middle East/Africa Technical Manager, he later became the Regional Manager and was also responsible for the implementation of access programs in South Africa. On his return to Sydney in 2005, he joined the Economic Marketing and Planning Team Business Unit in MLA.
