Livestock Quality Systems consists of five major subprograms:

Livestock Production Assurance
Helping Australia lead the way in on-farm food safety, Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) is a new on-farm food safety certification program designed to help the red meat industry strengthen the food safety systems currently in place.

National Vendor Declarations
The National Vendor Declaration (NVD) is the key tool used by producers to declare valuable information about the food safety status of the livestock being sold in Australia.

Producer Electronic Declaration  e-DEC™
LQS provides the means to download software programs that provide electronic versions of the LPA NVD/Waybill, that can be printed as well as sent by email to purchasers of livestock (eDEC™).  The typical persons or organisations that will use the eDEC™ program are producers and feedlots.

Livestock Fodder Declarations
A completed commodity vendor declaration (CVD) or By-Product Vendor Declaration (BVD) should be obtained from the supplier of livestock fodder when purchasing, which indicates the chemicals the material had been exposed to, or that there has been no chemical exposure.

Livestock Integrity
The Livestock Integrity (LI) program is MLA’s involvement in issues dealing with livestock residues, livestock feeding, and livestock disease (including ESIs and WHPs).
