Beef
Australian beef faces competition from a range of sources in export markets. In 2009, Australia was the dominant imported supplier in three of the top four beef export markets for Australian beef. The United States, Canada and New Zealand are also key competitors in these markets. South America and Indian buffalo beef are currently banned from these markets due to foot and mouth disease.
In Australia's lower tonnage export markets, Australian beef faces competition mainly from South America and, in some Southern Asian markets, from India.
