Beef and veal export volumes to the Middle East/North Africa region made strong gains in 2009, increasing 24% year-on-year to 16,590 tonnes swt. Significant increases in shipments were made to Jordan, rising from 416 tonnes swt in 2008 to 2,802 tonnes swt in 2009.
Export statistics
The latest export statistics reveal that Australia exported 1,560 tonnes of beef to the Middle East/North Africa region in February 2010, 166% higher year-on-year. In the calendar year to February, exports totalled 2,690 tonnes, 150% higher/lower than a year ago.
