Goatmeat
Goat over the hooks (OTH) - 18 May 2012
Goat rates have increased, due to a small drop in supply over recent weeks.
The quality of goats is good, with the skin-on season approaching.
There is increasing overseas enquiry as the fluctuating A$ settles. As a result, excess product in storage is gradually being cleared.

Goatmeat values slide in first quarter
The value of Australian goat exports for the March quarter fell 24 percent year-on-year, to $21.7 million FOB (Australian Bureau of Statistics), despite volumes increasing 3 percent over the same period.
Behind this drop were the lower domestic rates for goats, which were on average 137¢/kg cwt lower than the March quarter 2011.
The US remained the most valuable export destination, at $8.7 million FOB, although this was a significant decrease of 46 percent year-on-year.
Continuing the trend, the value of goatmeat to the Caribbean fell 24 percent year-on-year to $2.8 million, while Canada fell 3 percent to $2.5 million over the same period.
Goatmeat export values for the month of March fell 40 percent year-on-year to $2.4 million, primarily due to a large decline in shipments to the US.
