Funding opportunities

MLA strives to help develop an efficient, sustainable and competitive red meat industry by fostering and building innovation across the entire red meat supply chain.

MLA supports industry by providing funding opportunities for red meat producers, processors and other key stakeholders to encourage skill-building capabilities that accelerate the adoption of R&D outputs and promotes sustainability and competitiveness in the red meat sector.

Specifically these funding opportunities aim to increase:

  • On-farm and local industry sustainability and profitability.
  • Adoption and adaption of key research findings to commercial implementation.
  • Collaboration and coordination between producers and support agencies through shared goals.
  • Knowledge and best practice.

Funding opportunities are available for:

MLA acknowledges the matching funds provided by the Australian Government to support its research and development portfolio.

2016/17 MLA annual project call


Stage 1 of Meat & Livestock Australia’s (MLA) annual call project call closed Sunday 14 February 2016. 

The 2016/17 MLA annual project call for sheepmeat and grassfed beef RD&A has two stages.

Stage 1 – Preliminary proposals (CLOSED)

Stage 2 - Full proposals (March 2016)

Stage 2 of MLA’s annual call for projects that address 2016/17 research, development and adoption (RD&A) priorities for sheepmeat and grassfed beef commenced 29 March 2016.  Each organisation, group or individual that submitted preliminary project proposals to MLA has been advised of the outcome of stage 1 of the open call.
