Human nutrition
The role of the human nutrition R&D program is to provide credible and sound nutrition evidence to support the essential role of Australian red meat in a healthy diet.
R&D funded by MLA contributes to key public health issues in Australia including:
- The prevention of obesity, cardiovascular health, metabolic syndrome and diabetes, and cancer.
- The promotion of optimal growth, development and general wellbeing of all age groups of Australians.
MLA's financial contribution to human nutrition R&D is supplemented by cooperative contributions from individual processors, wholesalers, food service operators and retailers.
The Australian Government contributes 50% of funds for research and development programs.
