Industry Programs

Industry programs focus R&D and marketing activities, and support industry systems, to progress the growth and competitiveness of the industry.

Each year MLA develops an Annual operating plan that sets out its work plan for the year. The plan reflects the meat industry’s strategic plan, which is developed in consultation with industry representatives (peak councils). Download the 2008-09 Annual Operating Plan (PDF,  2MB).

The Annual operating plan is divided into six areas:

  • Markets and consumers
  • Product initiatives
  • Community concerns
  • Whole-of-chain efficiency
  • Strategic research and development
  • Other

Each area has a number of programs which make up the breadth of MLA’s work. Some programs cover a range of subjects. For more information on these, and industry systems, go to the menu on the left of this page.
