Collaborative programs

MLA's R&D outcomes are achieved through collaborations with industry, other research organisations and government.

  • Collaboration with industry ensures research identifies the most critical needs.
  • Collaboration with other research organisations enables joint approaches to common problems and eliminates duplication of effort.
  • Collaboration with government ensures that research focuses on economic, social and environmental results as well as the national rural and research priorities.

MLA invests in projects that provide the necessary infrastructure for work that will influence the red meat industries in the long-term.  Strategic collaborations to develop Australia's capacity for livestock production research and a delivery framework include other Rural Research and Development corporations; CSIRO; various research institutions and cooperative Research Centres (CRC).

Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) are part of a government program established to bring together researchers and research users.  MLA collaborates extensively with and contributes to funding of the Beef CRC, the Sheep Industry CRC and the CRC for the Plant-based management of Dryland Salinity.
