Goat industry communication network

MLA has established and coordinates a national goat industry communication network, established to facilitate communication between the various groups and interested parties that contribute to the Australian goatmeat industry.

Who is involved?
The network includes, where possible, but is not limited to, producers, processors, exporters, agents, retailers and wholesalers involved in the goat industry.

From the production side, this involves all breed groups, not just meat breeds such as rangeland and Boer goats. All goats, including fibre and dairy breeds, ultimately contribute to the goatmeat industry and, just as with the Merino wool industry; meat production can be a valuable by-product for these industries. Representatives from breed groups in each state have been, or are being, approached to be involved in the network.

How the network can benefit you?
The network will provide a forum for all involved to share information about what is happening in their industry sector. Opportunities and events to promote the goat industry and contribute to building the supply capacity of the goatmeat industry will be a key focus of the network. This will include the promotion of the Going into goats guide which was developed to encourage best practice and attract new entrants to the industry.

To find out what’s going on in your state and more about the Australian goat industry contact your state based national goat industry communication representative.
