Domestic retailer interest on the rise

In a move that will improve the availability of goat meat in the domestic market, an independent supermarket group is currently in discussion with a supplier to produce retail packs of boneless diced goatmeat for their meat operation in New South Wales. Consumer recipe pads have been produced for the retail market and will be made available to this supply chain.

Meanwhile, goatmeat brochures and recipe leaflets were distributed at the major foodservice trade show Restaurant '09 in Melbourne on 17 and 18 June. Cooking demonstrations featuring both wet and dry cooking methods were conducted using both goat legs and shoulders.

Melbourne also hosted a chefs table recently involving 65 chefs where goatmeat shoulders and legs were profiled.

Also on the home front, a second pad of recipes for diced goatmeat has been produced and is available to goat meat suppliers operating within established supply chains.
