This is your opportunity to hear about the domestic and export goat meat markets as well as the live export market for goats and gain an insight into how to produce for these markets and the challenges you may face.
Marie Barnes, who operates Micathel Boer Goats on her 240ha property “Bonsmara” at Cudal in central west NSW, believes that the inclusion of a goat session at the Meat Profit Day is a wonderful initiative.
“The overall concept of a meat profit day is to inform, challenge and inspire producers to take a fresh look at our red meat industries, learn from leaders and hopefully take away new ideas to improve our business and our ability to meet client and market needs.
“This day will put goat producers alongside the beef and sheepmeat industries and I hope participants will go away with a new focus to further develop and excel in our industry.”
Speakers at the goat module includes David Booth of Buronga Organics who will look at tapping into the domestic goat meat market; Geoff Davies and Fiona Lander of Capricorn Pastoral Company discussing making the most of live export opportunities; and Peter Schuster of Schuster Consulting Group who will give an overview of the goat meat industry and global demand. Marie Barnes will chair the session.
The Orange Meat Profit Day will be held at the Australian National Field Days site, Borenore via Orange, on Wednesday 12 November 2008. The Goats - never boering! session commences at 10:45am.
