R&D outcomes feature in new publications

MLA recently produced a number of free publications that provide important information for goat producers to help reduce parasite risk and increase meat quality and animal productivity. These publications are some of the outcomes from research and development projects conducted by MLA over the past twelve months and can be downloaded below or ordered via 1800 675 717, email publications@mla.com.au

Eating quality

A trial involving the application of technologies refined through beef and sheepmeat eating quality research to goat meat is now complete. The research highlighted the important role on-farm management, transport and lairage play in maximising eating quality potential. Several useful tools have been developed that explain the importance of pre-slaughter management in maximising eating quality and these can be downloaded below.

Animal health

MLA recently launched a report into ‘Options for the Control of Parasites in the Australian Goat Industry’ and a new parasite control module for the Going into goats: Profitable producers’ best practice guide. Two handy Tip & Tool sheets have been adapted from this report:
