Goats
The goat meat industry has recorded remarkable growth over the past few years and is establishing itself as a significant entity in the red meat industry on both domestic and export markets.
Goat meat is the most widely consumed meat in the world with Australia being the largest exporter of goatmeat.
The Goat program invests in finding new ways to improve the profitability and sustainability of goat meat production in Australia. In common with the sheep and lamb program this program focuses on:
- environment and feedbase development and management
- improving animal and herd productivity, and
- improving supply chain efficiency
MLA and the Goat Industry Council of Australia have developed an integrated strategic plan for the industry.
