MLA and AWI launch Making More from Sheep
A groundbreaking new program, developed with the input of nearly 250 leading sheep and wool producers and technical experts, has been launched to help sheep producers increase their productivity, profitability and overall satisfaction with their farming business.
The initiative, called Making More from Sheep, is the first of its kind for Australia’s sheep industry and has been developed for both wool and sheepmeat producers.
The centrepiece of the program is the comprehensive guide titled, Making More from Sheep – A sheep producer’s manual which is made up of 11 modules that cover all aspects of sheep management and production. Find out more about Making More from Sheep.
Sheep and lamb program overview
MLA's lamb and sheep program aims to increase productivity and sustainability among Australian lamb and sheep meat producers.
The program focuses on:
- environment and feedbase development and management
- improving animal and herd productivity, and
- improving supply chain efficiency
To ensure that this program is relevant to industry, groups such as the Sheepmeat Council of Australia’s R&D Advisory Group are engaged with MLA in planning lamb and sheep projects.
