Livestock Integrity
The Livestock Integrity (LI) program is MLA’s involvement in issues dealing with livestock residues, livestock feeding, and livestock disease.
The LI program comes under the auspices of the Livestock Quality Systems program, and its day-to-day functions are managed by the LQS Coordinator.
The LI program has 4 main pillars of management within the three key areas: issues, education, communication, and stakeholders.
Livestock Chemical Residues
Livestock Chemical Residue Management provides up-to-date information regarding export slaugher intervals (ESI) and withholding periods (WHP). These are provided and updated monthly by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicine Authority (APVMA).
The use of ESIs and WHPs ensures that the risk to trade from residues in meat and offal is minimised.
Should you have any questions regarding ESIs and WHPs, please contact the APVMA Residues Contact Officer on (02) 6210 4820.
