Tools to Help

There are a number of resources and tools available to producers to help them meet the requirements within LPA.

The resources have been divided into the following four sections:

  • Generic Publications - a list of publications that are not specifically related to an LPA element
  • Recording Templates - examples of records that you will need to keep for LPA
  • Audits - information regarding LPA Audits
  • The LPA Guidelines - links and publications relating to each of the five element on a state-by-state basis.

You can download Generic publications and recording templates by selecting the relevant links below. Detailed information on LPA Audits and the five LPA Guidelines are available via the menu on the left hand side of this page.

Recording Templates

Producers who provisionally register with LPA will receive a manual and CD ROM, which has an explanation and examples of the records you could keep to comply with Level 1 LPA.

The same records and examples from the manual are provided here on the website so you can print them off and use them over and over as you require. You can print them off or save the template to your computer.

Note: You may use any type of records you like, as long as you can demonstrate that you comply with what you signed on the NVD Waybill.

The LPA Guidelines

LPA has five on-farm food safety guidelines. By following these guidelines you will be able to answer the LPA NVD Waybill declaration with confidence and your livestock buyer will know that you stand by the food safety status of your livestock. Click on the links below for more information on each of the five elements.

  1. Element 1 - Property risk assessment – Making sure your livestock are not exposed to areas on your property that may be contaminated with persistent chemicals. This does not mean you have to conduct soil tests – this will depend on what your risk assessment indicates.
  2. Element 2 - Safe and responsible animal treatments – Making sure the livestock you sell do not contain unacceptable chemical residues or physical hazards.
  3. Element 3 - Stock foods, fodder crops, grain and pasture treatments -
Making sure your livestock are not exposed to feeds that contain unacceptable contamination, specifically, any food containing animal products and/or unacceptable chemical residues.
  4. Element 4 - Preparation for dispatch of livestock - Making sure your livestock to be transported are fit for the journey, not unduly stressed and contamination is minimised during on-farm assembly and transport to the destination.
  5. Element 5 - Livestock transactions and movements – Making sure the
movement of livestock can be traced if required, and that the chemical residue or food safety status of livestock accompanies their movement.
