Over the hooks - goats
Since May 2003 MLA’s National Livestock Reporting Service (NLRS) have produced a fortnightly over the hooks (OTH) goat report. This report was developed with the backing of GICA and extensive consultation was conducted to ensure adequate classifications were developed to accurately represent the market.
Producers, processors and agents are contacted each fortnight for price and comment on the current market trends. The end result is a report that displays the aggregated minimum, maximum and average cents per kilogram carcase weight price from all data sources.
The first report was published in late May 2003 and the latest report is available below, in a number of Rural Press publications, on the radio via ABC and by email directly from MLA’s NLRS.
This OTH report is complimented by weekly slaughter reports, including goat figures, also produced by MLA’s NLRS, and live export, and production and consumption statistics, collected by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
