Departure of RD leader announced

Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) Managing Director Mark Spurr today announced the departure of Dr Len Stephens, General Manager of Livestock Production Innovation within MLA. Dr Stephens has accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer of Australian Wool Innovation Ltd. His departure from MLA takes effect on 17 April 2003. Mr Spurr said Dr Stephens had made a significant contribution to Australia's red meat and livestock industry and recognised his tireless efforts in developing and promoting MLA's Research and Development (R&D) capabilities. "The Australian red meat and livestock industry has much to be grateful for from Len's contributions over this period and have been major beneficiaries of his efforts," he said. "Len takes to AWI vast industry experience and expertise as well as high personal levels of professionalism and enthusiasm and we look forward to close cooperation between AWI and MLA in the future." Mr Spurr also recognised that MLA was well equipped to continue to provide an outstanding level of service and support to the industry. "We have a great team in place to continue providing excellent service to the industry. The quality and timely delivery of programs and projects will continue to be achieved," he said. MLA has commenced recruitment activities for suitably qualified candidates for this key position.
