KIDPLAN provides simple, practical information
for goat breeders and producers on the genetic potential of their animals, by
ranking them for various production characteristics, in the form of Estimated
Breeding Values (EBVs). EBVs allow you to select the best sire or dam for your
breeding objective across a comprehensive range of commercial production and
quality traits. EBVs are produced in the units of production to assist breeders
and producers in making comparisons between animals. The genetic information
provided by KIDPLAN delivers a higher level of control over
animal selection. This service allows commercial and stud producers to more
effectively utilise information now available to them through new technologies
such as in-shed wool testing. You can use EBVs in order to identify the best
rams or ewes that meet your breeding objective for both wool and carcase traits.
In addition, all KIDPLAN information can be compared to other
flocks. This means that breeders have the opportunity to benchmark their
animals’ performance against industry.
