Since 1999, MLA has encouraged commercial investment in innovation through its fully owned subsidiary - MLA Donor Company (MDC). The MDC provides a mechanism for attracting commercial investment from individual enterprises and matching this with surplus Australian Government R&D funds.
Partners in innovation program
The objective of MLA's R&D partnership program is to significantly increase the level of investment in R&D by the red meat industry and increase the innovation culture and capability of individual enterprises and the industry as a whole.

Plant initiated project program
The plant initiated project program was jointly developed by MLA and the Australian Meat Processor Corporation (AMPC) Limited to encourage shared R&D funding between AMPC member processors and MLA. To access AMPC funding (up to 25% of total project cost), members must agree to match this figure dollar for dollar.
