Sustainable packaging value chain opportunities in the Australian red meat industry

RD&A strategy to guide the development of environmentally sustainable packaging value chains for the Australian red meat industry is a key aspect of the Supply Chain Sustainability Program activities up to 2020.. In doing so, the strategy will aim to create value for multiple supply-chain participants, with a clear value proposition for MLA’s levy payers, Australian red meat producers.

The strategy includes at least two business models for sustainable packaging products for Australian Red Meat industry to replace conventional non-renewable packaging products; or enable product reuse or recycling diverting product packing from landfill.  The strategy will also identify key marketing mix design to grow red meat demand based on sustainable packaging innovations.

This strategy will align with MISP 2020, the MLA AIP and the Environmental Value Chain Innovation Strategy 2020.
