Performance review

Performance reviews are a requirement of MLA's agreement with the Australian Government which covers key areas of strategy setting, stakeholder consultation and corporate governance.

Performance Review 2015

Evaluation and performance reviews are an important aspect of MLA’s five year planning cycle.

The latest independent review was the most comprehensive examination of MLA’s performance ever, and covers the five year period to 2015.

The review has culminated in two important reports:

  • A Performance Review, conducted by ACIL Allen, covering MLA’s governance, stakeholder engagement, planning and operation.
  • An Impact Assessment of the value of MLA’s research, development and marketing programs to the red meat industry and community.

The review finds that MLA is delivering a good return on investment overall – with a return of $6.20 on every dollar invested by its levy payers, the Australian Government and value chain partners.

It also finds that many programs are performing to a high level and confirms that MLA has the necessary governance and organisational arrangements in place to deliver against its plans.

The review identifies other areas of the company which need improvement and includes recommendations to assist in driving the future performance of MLA.
