Global market outlook to feature at 2016 Red Meat Industry Forum
21 October 2016
The international outlook for Australian red meat will be a focus of the upcoming 2016 Red Meat Industry Forum, being held with Meat & Livestock Australia’s (MLA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills on Thursday, 10 November 2016.
Among the key speakers at the forum will be MLA’s General Manager International Markets, Michael Finucan, who will provide key insights about current international market trends and how Australian red meat is positioned in the global marketplace.
Mr Finucan – who is based in Beijing – oversees MLA’s international global marketing activities and international offices.
With Australia exporting red meat and livestock to more than 100 countries, representing over 70 per cent of the industry's production, it is critical to protect and expand our industry’s access to overseas markets.
MLA has offices located in key export markets to promote and grow demand for Australian red meat in global markets, and to reinforce the position of Australian red meat as a high quality product.
MLA conducts customised marketing and market access activities as well as a range of programs and activities across the globe, tailored to each key export market and distribution channel.
With offices and staff based in-market across the globe, MLA is able to provide producers and the broader industry with valuable insights on emerging trends that allow Australian red meat to remain competitive in a global marketplace.
The Australian red meat industry operates in a global marketplace, therefore trends in key overseas markets will impact on the domestic market. Some of the emerging trends that will impact domestically over the next 18 months will also be on the agenda.
Also joining Mr Finucan at the Forum and AGM will be MLA’s Europe and Russia International Business Manager, Josh Anderson, who is based in Brussels.
Mr Anderson will provide producers key insights of the impact of the ‘Brexit’ vote on the Australian red meat industry, as well as progress on proposed EU and UK Free Trade agreements.
