25 July 2016

Goats continue to be a hot topic in the media in recent weeks with extensive coverage in regional newspapers and radio. Key messages from Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) and the Goat Industry Council of Australia (GICA) have centred around the pressing issue of supply and the opportunity goats represent to producers across the country with flow on benefits to business cash flow and risk mitigation, woody weed control and sustainable carrying capacity increases if undertaken correctly. Given the supply shortages, it’s crucial for producers to look at retaining pregnant does and growing out options for young, underweight animals to ensure future supply.
