MAC boss to provide key consumer insights

Frank Carbone, Managing Director of McDonald’s Asia Pacific Consortium (MAC) will provide producers and industry representatives with key insights into changing consumer expectations for red meat at the Meat & Livestock (MLA) AGM and 2016 Red Meat Industry Forum next month.
Mr Carbone has been announced as the keynote speaker at MLA’s Networking Function – to be held the evening of Wednesday, 9 November – the first event of the 2016 Red Meat Industry Forum and MLA AGM in Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills on 9-10 November 2016.
MAC is an Australian company and one of the largest volume buyers of Australian beef. The company manages the end to end beef supply chain for all Australian and New Zealand sourced product and its global distribution to the five shareholders who produce burger patties for McDonald’s restaurants.
Mr Carbone will provide an overview of the MAC business and his observations of rapidly changing consumer expectations – and what that means for the industry and for managing supply chains in future.
During his address Mr Carbone, will discuss how answering consumer questions about product such as where it was grown, was it responsibly produced, what’s in it and how is this information verified will become the baseline for consumer acceptance.
Using international examples, he will outline the opportunities this may create for Australia’s red meat and livestock industry.
The announcement of Mr Carbone as keynote speaker at the MLA Networking Function is an exciting addition to the full program in Hahndorf.
The theme for this year’s program is 2020 and beyond – Fostering prosperity in the red meat industry and will have a specific focus on the future, as well as the current state of the red meat and livestock industry – and the role MLA will play in building producer profitability, sustainability and global competitiveness.
As well as the formal MLA AGM proceedings, the program features the 2016 Red Meat Industry Forum which will provide an opportunity to hear from senior industry and MLA leaders, and will feature an open Q&A component.
There will be two sessions as part of the Forum, the first hosted by the Red Meat Advisory Council (RMAC) which will provide a broad industry update. The second will feature MLA’s executive leadership team, discussing the latest marketing and R&D priorities, as well as key domestic and global insights.
Producers in attendance will also be able to visit a number of trade stands featuring MLA’s community and consumer promotion programs, MLA’s market information services, innovation programs and demonstrations of leading RD&A projects.
