Pastoral webinar focuses on funding for the future

02 July 2015

Funding your business for the future will be the topic of a new Pastoral Profit webinar for livestock producers in Australia’s pastoral zone to be held on 14 July.

This is the second in a series of webinars being held by the Pastoral Profit program, a new joint initiative of MLA and Australian Wool Innovation, and will feature livestock profitability specialist Dr Phil Holmes, of Holmes & Co.

MLA General Manager, Livestock Productivity Dr Jane Weatherley says the webinar will cover the fundamentals of resourcing your business and family needs for the future.

“It will introduce the key criteria you need to consider to fund your business's long term economic sustainability, including provision for family goals, needs and aspirations, and taking into account debt considerations,” said Jane.

South Australian pastoralist Alexandra Morgan, of Outalpa Station, will join Dr Holmes during the webinar to share her experiences of making challenging business and investment decisions that are now helping to achieve the family’s goals.

The webinar, which will run on Tuesday 14 July from 12:30-1:30pm EST, seeks to provide answers to questions including:

  • What level of funding will help you to achieve all that you would like in your ownership tenure?
  • How realistic is it that your business can meet those needs and how can you tell?
  • Can the business fund your needs?
  • Will you need to employ debt?
  • How much debt can your business afford to service and repay?

More than 400 producers have watched the first Pastoral Profit webinar which was held in June, but those who missed it can access it here: www.pastoralprofit.com.au
