Supplies ease

SA saleyard throughput this week eased 16%, to 3,868 head.

  • Throughput at SA Livestock Exchange halved, at 380 head
  • Consignments at Naracoorte eased 6%, to 1,318 head
  • Mt Gambier decreased 14%, to 1,120 head
  • Mt Compass was up 5%, at 1,050 head

Grown cattle prices lift

Medium vealer steers to slaughter eased 6¢, averaging 328¢/kg. Similarly, medium C3 vealer heifers were also cheaper, easing 19¢ to average 313¢/kg. Heavy C3 vealer heifers fell 10¢ to average 321¢/kg.

Medium C3 yearling steers increased 3¢, averaging 317¢/kg. Heavy C3 yearling steers were up 2¢ from last week, averaging 316¢, while the same heifer lines also jumped 3¢, averaging 316¢/kg. Medium C3 yearling heifers were up 4¢, averaging 316¢/kg. Heavy C3 feeder heifers increased 1¢, averaging 307¢/kg.

Heavy C3 grown steers ease 2¢ to average 318¢/kg. Light C3 grown heifers increased 3¢ to average 307¢/kg. Heavy D3 grown cows to slaughter were up 3¢ to average 264¢/kg.
