Summary

MLA's Producer Demonstration Site (PDS) program aims to provide a participatory learningopportunity for groups of producers to demonstrate best practice and locally develop ordemonstrate MLA research and development outputs in a regional and commercially relevantcontext that leads to improved profitability and sustainability outcomes.The program aims toshorten the time lag between research and development and on-farm adoption.

The PDS program operates nationally covering the northern beef and southern lamb,sheepmeat and beef industries.

The focus of PDS projects:

  • align with MLA's on-farm productivity and sustainability strategic imperatives;
  • demonstrate best practice aligned with MLA's FutureBeef, More Beef from Pastures and Making More from Sheep program

To facilitate a closer alignment between MLA's on-farm research, development, and extensionimperatives the PDS program transitioned to a model that calls for PDS projects aligned with MLA RD&A priorities as well as continuing to consider producer group driven proposals. The National PDS Coordinator role drives the development, transition andimplementation of the PDS model in consultation with MLA, to ensure that the program outcomes are delivered to industry.
