JBS Collaborative Innovation Strategies Partnership program
The Collaborative Innovation Strategies Partnership program (CISP) involves the co-development of comprehensive innovation strategies with individual enterprises. Initiatives under those strategies will meet that enterprise's commercial imperatives, in addition to focusing on the implementation of key industry and government innovation priorities. The aim of this program is to facilitate the development of broad innovation capabilities throughout the whole supply chain.
This leads to accelerated adoption of R&D outcomes, a more strategic focus in innovation initiatives, and greater impact derived from investment in innovation by companies. Commencement of the Collaborative Innovation Strategies program in October 2009 was the catalyst for JBS to develop a R&D investment strategy, then undertaking a portfolio of R&D projects in the areas of operations, environment, marketing and people capability.
These projects have delivered benefits of over $35 per head. During the first 3 years of the JBS CISP program, the focus has been on achieving operational excellence (specifically processing efficiency and environmental sustainability). Two internal Innovation Managers have been appointed. As a result of the successes of the Stage 1, an expanded whole of company JBS CISP Stage 2 program is now underway.
