Advance your sheep reproduction knowledge
30 April 2025
A five-part professional development webinar series aligned with the annual sheep breeding cycle is available for Australian livestock advisors as part of the Sheep Reproduction Strategic Partnership (SRSP).
The webinars will:
- present the science underpinning best practice recommendations for sheep reproduction
- aim to improve the consistency of information to sheep producers
- raise awareness of key industry resources such as Making More from Sheep, and extension programs, including BredWell FedWell and Lifetime Ewe Management.
The program begins with the key pre-joining actions to set rams and breeding ewes up for a successful joining. It then moves through the breeding cycle from joining, pregnancy and lactation to weaning. The final session is an overview of genetic improvement and highlights how genetics complements best practice management to optimise the reproductive performance of sheep enterprises.
A comprehensive set of notes is provided to participants following each session. These include links to scientific papers, final reports, books or websites for each slide as well as references for further information.
The program has been delivered to extension staff from Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (QDAF) and NSW Local Lands Services (LLS) and is currently in progress with AGnVET and Elders staff.
