SALRC regional positions

02 July 2021

EOIs are invited from livestock producers to assist in directing the RD&A agenda in south-eastern Australia through membership of the following SALRC regional committees:

  • Northern New South Wales
  • Southern New South Wales
  • Central and western New South Wales (including Queensland sheep)
  • Central Victoria
  • Western Victoria
  • South-east Victoria and Tasmania
  • South Australia

The Southern Australia Livestock Research Council (SALRC) is an independent, incorporated association and one of three national research councils setup to provide recommendations on Research, Development & Adoption (RD&A) priorities and planning for grassfed beef and sheepmeat and R&D professionals throughout Australia.

As part of SALRC’s commitment to building industry and organisational capability, recruitment is now underway for key livestock producer members in south-eastern Australia. One regional committee chair position is available in the central and western New South Wales (including Queensland sheep) region, while the first term of the current regional chairs in northern New South Wales and southern New South Wales have been completed and although they are both eligible for reappointment the position is also open to other applicants.

Regional committee member positions are also open in each region to any grassfed beef and/or sheepmeat producer who resides in the respective SALRC region (note: some current members are eligible for reappointment however positions are open to other applicants). Working closely with their respective regional committee chair, SALRC’s regional committee members provide the critical interface between RD&A providers and the needs of red meat and livestock producers.

The selection committee will consider expressions of interest for the regional chair positions on 5 July 2021 and regional committee member positions on 23 July 2021. It is expected the tenure of these positions (two three-year terms) will commence following the SALRC AGM in September 2021.
