Lamb prices slide but find a little bounce
The eastern states trade lamb indicator started this week close to 100¢ below where it opened in June, bottoming out at 577¢/kg cwt on Monday. However, by the close of Thursday’s markets an apparent dead cat bounce had ensued, with the indicator finishing at 605¢/kg, but still 34¢/kg cwt below year-ago levels.Read More
Cattle exports fiscal year fall
For the 2016-17 fiscal year, feeder and slaughter cattle exports were just below 802,000 head, a 27% decline year-on-year. For the calendar year-to-June feeder and slaughter cattle exports are back 38%, compared with the same period last year, totalling 346,000 head.Read More
