Summary

MLA had identified that adoption of improved management practices and technology amongst red meat producers was often hampered by producers' lack of relevant skills and confidence.

Profitable Grazing Systems (PGS) was designed to overcome these barriers through the use of 'supported learning' methodology where small groups of producers work with a dedicated 'coach' to learn, practice and implement new skills relevant to their business.

Objectives

Delivery of the Supported Learning Project (SLP) Pasture Principles, (developed by Macquarie Franklin) over seven sessions. These seven sessions will incorporate an initial one-day workshop, followed by six group based, on-farm coaching sessions.

Benefits to industry

The purpose of the delivery program is to be highly transformational for producers who engage, and disruptive to delivery by implementing a commercial approach.
