Goat producers interested in helping to teach Australian primary school students about where their food comes from are encouraged to participate in MLA’s Smart Farming virtual classroom program.
Australian Good Meat, an online platform created by MLA, has launched its new Smart Farming virtual classroom program tailored specifically for primary school students to interact with passionate farmers.
NSW goat producer, Jo Stewart, is among the producers who participated in the virtual classroom program in Term 3, talking to primary school students about ‘The Sustainable Farm’.
Jo and her husband, Craig, raise Boer goats in Central Western NSW and produce their own paddock-to-plate branded goatmeat under their brand The Gourmet Goat Lady.
Smart Farming virtual classrooms provide a fun, interactive and educational experience bringing Australian goat, sheep, and cattle producers direct to the classroom for students to learn more about Australian farming.
Hosted on Zoom, these free sessions, linked to the Australian Curriculum, provide a perfect introduction to key topics such as the value chain, food production, sustainable farming practices and the types of farming technology being used.
Students have the opportunity to talk directly with a farmer, complete quizzes, and importantly, learn more about where their food comes from, all from the classroom or at home.
