WA Pasture Updates 2016 | Manjimup

02 Aug 2016 | 10:00 AM
7 hours

Come and hear the latest in pasture research for the south west region of WA, along with how farmers are applying this work on their place to increase their bottom lines. Plus a few novel ideas for getting the best out of every paddock and every animal. Jump on the bus and head to the paddock, then come inside for more information, fodder and fellowship.
PADDOCK WALKS
Manjimup Pasture Group Long-term pasture trial – there is not much these guys haven’t tried on this patch of dirt at Phil, Judy and Di Rose’s place. Originally a pasture establishment trial with a wide variety of species and methods, they have now over sown it with barley to get the most out of the paddock. See and hear what have they learnt from it all.
Blue Gum reclamation site – This site is a great example of a blue gum plantation that has been cleared and returned to production in a very short space of time. We’ve all wondered about the work, costs and benefits of doing it, so come and see for yourself!
These paddock sessions will be led by Paul Omodei, Planfarm, and include discussions on nitrogen fixation with Chris Poole, ALOSCA, pasture species with Tim O’Dea, Heritage Seeds and plant and soil nutrition with your local CSBP rep.
