WA Pasture and Livestock Update | Kellerberrin WA

03 Aug 2017 | 09:30 AM
1 day
$30 (cash or cheque on the day. No credit card facility available)
Visit Todd’s paddocks to see and hear about the many pasture options he has introduced into his mixed farming system. These include March-sown Cadiz serradella, regenerating Dalkeith and Nungarin sub clover, and barley crops grazed by sheep in June and July. Todd, with the help of Phil Barrett-Lennard, agVivo, will discuss why these species and strategies have been chosen and how they fit into Todd’s whole farm operation, both logistically and economically.
Out in the paddocks, we’ll also discuss ‘Are your annual legumes fixing nitrogen?’. We’ll then travel back to the venue for lunch and the afternoon session.
Speakers and topics:
- Stephen Crook, producer with Geoff Fosbery, Consultag - Driving profitability of livestock within a mixed farming system
- Phil Nichols, DAFWA - Pasture varieties for here, there, but not everywhere
- Richard Apps, MLA - Your levies at work – what is MLA up to in the R&D space?
- Local producers - The Pasture and Livestock Updates Producer Panel
- Phil Barrett-Lennard, agVivo - Chaff carts and crop grazing – do they stack up?
- Beth Paganoni, DAFWA, with producer, Emily Stretch - ATM and BS technology – it’s not what you’re thinking
