PDS Updates webinar series: Optimising weaning age – Insights and outcomes from the PDS
Key Details:
- Date: Thursday 30 April 2026
- Time: 12pm AEST / 10am WA / 11:30am SA/NT
- Duration: 45 mins
Age of weaning is an important driver of cow condition, calf growth and whole-herd efficiency – but the relationship isn’t always linear, and outcomes can vary depending on season, feedbase and management.
As the MLA-funded ASHEEP & BEEF Inc ‘Optimising age of weaning in cattle’ PDS reaches practical completion, we’re hosting this webinar to share a clear and concise wrap-up of the project’s results.
Veterinarian and PDS facilitator Dr Enoch Bergman and lead producer Nick Ruddenklau will summarise the key findings, including:
- measurable outcomes from calves weaned at different ages
- effects on cow body condition, fertility and rebreeding the influence of season and feedbase constraints on weaning decisions
- management considerations, risks and operational impacts
- practical recommendations supported by the project’s data.
Who should attend?
- Cattle producers
- Mixed-enterprise producers
- Farm managers, overseers and advisers.
