Following the Farm300 journey on video

12 June 2015

Sheep and cattle producers around Australia have been on the Farm300 journey, learning how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while increasing productivity in their enterprises.

New video updates have been produced outlining the challenges and learnings of participants who were featured in the earlier videos, filmed at the start of the program.

The earlier videos were developed as producers set out to research their area and the new videos show what they learnt along the way and are putting into practice.

 Watch the videos to see:

  • SA cattle and sheep producer Janet Furler examining alternative pasture species and feed to fill feed gaps, increase efficiencies and reduce methane emissions in her sheep and cattle enterprise.
  • NSW sheep producer Nick Gay focusing on increasing his sheep enterprise stocking rate and matching it to carrying capacity.
  • SA cattle producer Sandy Nott investigating using grapemarc as a supplementary feed source for cattle to increase weight gain while reducing emissions.
  • NSW sheep producer Tom McGuiness exploring matching the stocking rate of his sheep enterprise to feed availability and climate forecasts.
  • Victorian cattle and sheep producer Glen White learning about increasing stocking rates to grow profitability while undertaking land conservation measures.

The second video of Victorian mixed farming producer and feedlot operator Simon Ross will be available shortly at www.mla.com.au/farm300.
