More than 1 million sheep yarded in WA

Cattle

WA cattle saleyard throughput totalled 234,708 head for the 2016-17 financial year. Numbers at Muchea reached 98,990 head, putting it in first position. In second place was Boyanup, with a total of 68,429 head, while Mount Barker yarded a total of 61,556 head, placing third. Manjimup ranked fourth, reporting a throughput of 5,221 head for the year. Margaret River and Brunswick yarded 372 head and 130 head, placing them in fifth and sixth positions, respectively.

Sheep

A total of 1.3 million head of sheep were yarded in WA in 2016-17. The largest number of consignments was to Katanning where throughput reached 693,351 head. Meanwhile, yardings at Muchea totalled 607,615 head – placing it in second position.
