Summary
A Calf Loss Forum was held with key researchers in 2006 to identify the key issues associated with calf loss between pregnancy testing and weaning, and the priority R&D projects. The extent of calf loss was confirmed but the primary causes are uncertain and may be multifactorial in nature. Several priority areas for additional research were identified.
