Summary
Specialists in cattle husbandry and water chemistry were brought together to discussed problems with water medication systems arising from water quality issues, and to identify the likely causes and the possible solutions. Major issues included
(1) high rates of N loss and concentration variability in medicated stock waters,
(2) development of nutrient (N) gradients in medication tanks, and
(3) residue deposition in pipes and fittings.
A number of research and communication needs were taken forward for consideration by MLA.
