Summary

MLA contributed to the Cooperative Joint Venture (CJV) with Rural Industries Research & Development Corporation (RIRDC), Department of Agriculture Fisheries & Forestry - Australia trading as Bureau of Rural Sciences, FarmBis, Dairy Australia Limited,Land & Water Resources Research & Development Corporation, Sugar Research & Development Corporation, Grape & Wine R & D Corporation and other rural R&D corporations, to enhance the capacity of cooperative venture participants and other institutions to effect change through cooperation and joint resourcing. Between 2004 and June 2006 this project had: 
1. Facilitated R&D in key areas identified by the CJV. 
2. Delivered learning methods and processes to CJV partners and other stakeholders. 
3. Provided a forum for stakeholders to learn from and help each other. 
4. Promoted the benefits of human capacity development in managing change. 
5. Identified current 'best practice' in rural extension, education and training to assist in the design and delivery of learning. 
6. Improved understanding of non-participation in learning activities and what is needed to involve current non-participants to increase accessibility of learning activities and involvement of the farming community.
7. Promote and rethink rural extension, education through government, industry and community groups so they respond to new changing environments and enhance rural learning and practice. 8. Enhance the capacity of rural service providers to deliver and enable effective learning activities
