Summary
The project investigated a number of issues commencing during the backgrounding phase to determine the effect of backgrounded growth rate on feedlot performance, adjustments to the feedlot introductory phase as well as feedlot management. When the lambs were in the feedlot, pen density is an unknown quantity. The Research Organisation measured feed efficiency of different genotypes to assess its impact on the feedlot bottom line. The Research Organisation also monitored the carcass performance of the new terminal sires used this year.
