Summary
MLA and other organisations have contributed significant funding into the development of a number of whole farm biophysical models including the Sustainable Grazing Systems model, GrassGro, APSIM, GRASP, MIDAS and Ausfarm. Additional electronic decision support tools have also been developed including the MLA feed demand calculator and the rainfall to pasture growth outlook tool. In order to further explore the utility of these models and to "up skill" MLA Project Managers in the respective model capacities, a two day workshop was convened. The workshop included presentations from model experts on the tool capacity, where they are being used and for what purpose. Practical sessions for Managers to use the tools were included in conjunction with presentations.
